I think it’s very important not to feel overwhelmed around this time of year regarding aspirations, goals and resolutions. That overwhelm does not help you, it only takes away from energy you have to put towards them. Which is why we need to focus on writing things down. It doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as you do it. Use a journal, an app, or scrap paper. Use whatever works for you.
So I’ll be writing more, reflecting more and spending time in slow space (methodical thinking), so that I can grasp the bigger ideas behind my desires. This should help me be able to consistently re-orient myself when my enthusiasm for a goal wanes and keep me on track when willpower is non-existent or greatly depleted. In my case, chronic pain depletes willpower at an astonishing rate and sometimes I wake up with none.
This year I will be focusing on kindness, self-love, self-knowledge (know thyself), methods & frameworks, reading a lot of books, learning and personal growth.
I hope everyone has a wonderful new year – to personal growth + health!
Speaking of which, an awesome printable freebie showed up in my inbox last night from the website RandomActsofKindness.org. It’s a printable calendar with ideas on how to incorporate kindness into your everyday life and there are two versions. There is a workplace kindness printable calendar and a personal version.
Below is an example of the printable personal version.
